Hey hey hey!
I had such an emotional start to this week! Literally started Monday in tears. What happened? I was frustrated. Working in a new environment means working with new people, and learning to work under new circumstances. New people means new mannerisms, new ways of seeing life – new everything. And the more new things there are to adapt to, the more change and flexibility required on your part in order to manage the situation as best as possible.
I was just not getting this particular person. It felt like there was no pleasing the person and so I felt fatigued whenever we worked together because I’d have given up before the shift even started. After crying myself into a headache and videocalling my mom (she always has stellar advice as seen in her monthly marriage and family life column) I said to God “I don’t want a repeat of this. Work will be a joy for me from now on” and He did it!
My next 24 hour call duty was amazing. In fact, whilst doing an Exchange Blood Transfusion for a patient (a procedure where the entire blood volume is removed and simultaneously replaced with fresh blood) I was just being friendly and chatting with the patient’s parents, as it takes quite a bit of time to do. When I was finally done, I was reviewing other patients when one of the parents called me over to thank me for how nice I was to the previous family and when her family came she told them about me and they prayed for me; I can’t explain how happy it made me feel. From starting the week distraught to being highly appreciated – for just being myself!
God definitely came through for me. And He can do the same for you! My advice: put your whole dependence on God; when I was still trying to make things work by myself it was like I was hitting a brick wall but the moment I handed it over to God, He made everything as smooth as velvet.
Till next time,
