Strong In Caring And Companionship:
Care compels love to flow from the heart. A loving husband makes himself loveable. Ephesians 5:28 states clearly, “So ought men to love their wives as their own bodies. He that loveth his wife loveth himself.”
Ephesians 5:28 KJV
So, love your wife and do so sincerely. She will positively respond to your love and care for her. Every woman wants to be loved. There’s nothing stopping you now. Shower all your love on her and see great things happen in your life and family.
Blameless In Conduct:
In all things and in all places (home or abroad) the husband must be blameless. His conduct must be above reproach and worthy of emulation. And he should endeavour to “Do all things without murmurings and disputing: That ye may be blameless and harmless, the sons of God, without rebuke, in the midst of a crooked and perverse nation, among whom ye shine as lights in the world;”
Philippians 2:14-15 KJV.
Abiding In The Covenant of Marriage:
Our LORD JESUS CHRIST reminds every husband of the covenant of marriage in Matthew 19:4-6, “And he answered and said unto them, Have ye not read, that He which made them at the beginning made them male and female, And said, For this cause shall a man leave father and mother, and shall cleave to his wife: and they twain shall be one flesh? Wherefore they are no more twain, but one flesh. What therefore God hath joined together, let not man put asunder.”
Matthew 19:4-6 KJV. What the Bible recommends for marriage union is one MAN to one WIFE. Some people have done the calculation as
1+1 = 1. The husband MUST abide in the covenant of this union.
Noble In Courage:
Courage is a virtue which must be found in husbands. David’s show of courage as a shepherd was exemplary. 1 Samuel 17:34-35 speaks of this, “And David said unto Saul, Thy servant kept his father’s sheep, and there came a lion, and a bear, and took a lamb out of the flock: And I went out after him, and smote him, and delivered it out of his mouth: and when he arose against me, I caught him by his beard, and smote him, and slew him.”
1 Samuel 17:34-35 KJV. If David protected animals so courageously, how well should you protect your wife?
You are supposed to protect her against all external aggressions from neighbours and in-laws.
Dependable In Contributing To The Needs At Home:
1Timothy 5:8 says without mincing words, what is required of all faithful husbands. “But if any provide not for his own, and specially for those of his own house, he hath denied the faith, and is worse than an infidel.”
1 Timothy 5:8 KJV. The husband MUST provide for every member of the household.
LOVING AND CARING:
Love and care are the most essential ingredients in marriage. This is as profitable and priceless for newlyweds as it is for old couples.
1 Corinthians 13:1-13:
“Though I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, and have not charity, I am become as sounding brass, or a tinkling cymbal. And though I have the gift of prophecy, and understand all mysteries, and all knowledge; and though I have all faith, so that I could remove mountains, and have not charity, I am nothing. And though I bestow all my goods to feed the poor, and though I give my body to be burned, and have not charity, it profiteth me nothing. Charity suffereth long, and is kind; charity envieth not; charity vaunteth not itself, is not puffed up, Doth not behave itself unseemly, seeketh not her own, is not easily provoked, thinketh no evil; Rejoiceth not in iniquity, but rejoiceth in the truth; Beareth all things, believeth all things, hopeth all things, endureth all things. Charity never faileth: but whether there be prophecies, they shall fail; whether there be tongues, they shall cease; whether there be knowledge, it shall vanish away. For we know in part, and we prophesy in part. But when that which is perfect is come, then that which is in part shall be done away. When I was a child, I spake as a child, I understood as a child, I thought as a child: but when I became a man, I put away childish things. For now we see through a glass, darkly; but then face to face: now I know in part; but then shall I know even as also I am known. And now abideth faith, hope, charity, these three; but the greatest of these is charity.”
1 Corinthians 13:1-13 KJV
This must be a mirror for both partners as they relate with one another day after day. They must see themselves in it and observe if they fall below its precepts.
Fluent speaking, prophetic and positive utterances, knowledge, faith for provision of material needs are not sufficient in the family. LOVE is the one indispensable ingredient that MUST be present in your relationship. Love MUST be practical. Love must be evident in action and attitude in the home as we endeavour to please and edify one another.
Forgiveness must be a daily experience.
Confession of one another’s fault must be practised daily.
There must be a conscious effort to love and care one for another. “And be ye kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God for Christ’s sake hath forgiven you.”
Ephesians 4:32 KJV.
BACK TO YOUR FIRST LOVE 💕❤️
Now, our LORD JESUS CHRIST has a word for older couples, “Nevertheless I have somewhat against thee, because thou hast left thy first love. Remember therefore from whence thou art fallen, and repent, and do the first works; or else I will come unto thee quickly, and will remove thy candlestick out of his place, except thou repent.”
Revelation 2:4-5 KJV
The light of the family goes out when LOVE is absent. Everybody in the family will begin to walk in darkness and stumble, offend and take offence, when LOVE, the light, goes out.
Let Love come into the family again and light will come in too. Love is the principal thing in marriage. Without Love, marriages cannot thrive.
On a final note, as newly weds, you MUST ensure that you contribute ingredients to your marriage, that will make it succeed.
You MUST possess all these qualities at the beginning of your married life.
Begin on a good note.
Put your best into your marriage. There is another important task that you have to perform.
Keep the ingredients there all through your marital life never let them slip.
“And did not He make one? Yet had He the residue of the spirit. And wherefore one? That He might seek a godly SEED. Therefore take heed to your spirit, and let none deal treacherously against the wife of his youth. For the LORD, the God of Israel, saith that He hateth putting away: for one covereth violence with his garment, saith the LORD of hosts: therefore take heed to your spirit, that ye deal not treacherously.”
Malachi 2:15-16 KJV
