Though temptation is often defined as a desire to do something wrong or unwise, it goes deeper than that. The wish to do or have something that you know you should not do or have is not the problem of temptation, it’s the desire that created the need that’s the bad guy. Let’s address it.
To be tempted is not a vice, it’s a virtue or a tool created for rewarding passion. It shows we are human and normal. Temptation is a neutral energy, it’s neither positive or negative. Temptation is a primary innate rescue tool planted in us as an agent of supply to meet our needs. The feeling of temptation is a natural, secondary, instinctive thing. It’s a secondary feeling that’s rapid, spontaneous, and uncontrollable.
To be tempted is real. By merely countering the thought, quieting it down, denying it, or shutting it down doesn’t make it go away. Temptation is a tool for supplying our needs and it’s the only natural feeling that plays that role. To be tempted is a strong feeling but temptation doesn’t create anything. Whatever need you create will be supplied by your temptation either now or somewhere at a future time. If you don’t want to steal, stop craving for things you don’t have because temptation will help you get whatever need you create for yourself.
There’s nothing wrong with being tempted and there is nothing you can do about it. You can never get rid of temptation by fighting it or wishing it away. But, if you have an abundance mentality, the potential for your temptation to overwhelm you will be minimised or become totally powerless.
It is your desire that creates your needs – then gives the task to your temptation to supply them. If you manage your desires well and make them create positive needs, you won’t have to worry about your temptations.
Temptation isn’t your problem, desire is the culprit. You can never be tempted above your desires. If your desire has not created anything, your temptation will have nothing to feed upon or to work on. Temptation is quick, spontaneous, swift, domineering, compelling but very mild and easier to handle than most people ever imagined. To be tempted isn’t limited to an individual, it’s everyone. You calm temptation by simply waiting and processing information.
You can’t avoid being tempted, it’s needless for you to be looking into that direction. For as long as your desire is busy creating needs for you, you’ll continue to be tempted. Remember, temptation doesn’t know the difference between legitimate or illegitimate means of meeting a need. All it does is to meet the need.
Please control your desires.
To ease the pressure of temptation, see things the way they’re, just as things. If you deal with your desires you’ll have nothing left to work upon. Temptation is powerless without the existence of latent needs waiting to be met in you. To be tempted is human and normal, your response to it is a choice. Don’t surrender to your temptation, you’re absolutely in charge and you have the control.
