Every now and then I practice self-constraints by putting a rule on myself, just to ensure I am in control of as many factors pertaining to me as possible.
I’m currently in my 5th week of my no-rice diet and each passing day I feel prouder of myself, because rice is such a common food I have to make a constant decision to avoid it each time, it’s like I’m choosing between weakness and strength and who wants to be a weakling? Certainly not me. The most trying times are when I get free rice at the hospital; ah it is extra tough! Last week I was the second surgeon for a Cesarean Section and I hadn’t eaten prior to going into the theatre, I got out extremely famished only to meet jollof rice as Call food! My feet were heavy as I marched out of the call room to go to the restaurant and pay for a plate of beans 😂 but I had to do it because I was determined to stick to my diet.
The importance of self-constraint cannot be overemphasized – you need to be able to put your foot down on matters, be intentional with yourself, your diet, your appearance, your mood – these things shouldn’t be left to chance or however you’re feeling in the moment, you should be able to account for everything regarding yourself at any point in time.
Well, that’s my two cents anyways.
Till next time,
