Hey darlings! It’s been a while since I last wrote a hair post but it’s for a good reason – I was giving my latest experiment time to see its effect, and I tell you, it was worth it!
So as the title reveals, my latest natural hair regimen is super low cost (much to my joy, working life means extreme budgeting lol) and easy to do.
Let me show you my before and after so you have some motivation to keep reading this post haha:
Before Rice Water treatment:
My hair was thin and needed to be divided into smaller portions to get a good size ponytail.
After 4 months of rice water treatment:
My hair is longer, but more importantly – it’s thicker! My twists don’t have to be as tiny as before in order to achieve desired styles.
Alright so how does this whole rice water thing go? It’s simple:
1. Get a 1L bottled water container and fill the bottom of the bottle with dry, uncooked white rice. You can rinse the rice ahead in case it was from a less than hygienic source (open market).
2. Fill the bottle with water and allow to stand for at least 48 hours.
And that’s it!
Application:
After washing your hair with shampoo (I use olive oil shampoo)
Go ahead to divide your hair into small sections and apply the rice water liberally from root to tips.
Plait your hair tightly and cover with a shower cap.
After at least one hour, use a wide tooth comb to comb through your hair – it should be smoother than prior to putting the rice water in! Once you’ve combed it through, rinse the rice water out and dry your hair gently with a towel.
Apply your favorite conditioner and allow your hair to air dry – watch out for the growth!
Best of luck – I look forward to seeing your success storiessss!
Lots of love,
ETP xo
