Guysss I’m still in shock as I write this post haha. So here’s the gist, my sister and I decided to take a trip down to Tarkwa Bay, which is part of the Atlantic Ocean that touches Lagos’ shore, as I’m on leave and she’s on an early Christmas holiday lol. So we got to CMS bus stop and crossed to get to the boat port, put on life jackets and we entered the banana boat which cost N300; all was going nicely, enjoyed the scenery, you know, the full works.
Upon arrival at the Tarkwa Bay jetty, a couple passengers alighted including my sister, no problems elicited. But it was at my turn when I had one foot on the jetty and one in the boat – that the boat started to drift further from the jetty, people tried to drag it closer but it had gone too far, then a man tried to lend me a hand but before I could say Jack Robinson – both myself and the man dropped deep into the Atlantic Ocean! My life jacket went above my head, my slippers became loose and floated above and all I was thinking is “is this really happening to me?” 😂
I swam up to the surface and people helped me back into the boat then onto the jetty; it was then people started asking about my phone which was in my bag but thankfully it didn’t spoil (so if you ever wondered if an IPhone X is waterproof – here’s your answer 😂).
I was given four sachets of water for free by the staff at the jetty (bless their hearts) to rinse the salt water off – then we began the trek towards the beach through the Tarkwa Bay community; let’s just say I was walking entertainment for the whole village Lool. Everyone kept telling me sorry haha.
Finally we got to the beach and it was so beautiful, here are a couple photos:
I found the whole experience rather hilarious, glad I dried off eventually 😂
Moral of the story: Learn how to swim – you never know when you might drop into the ocean 😂
