It’s taken a while to get this follow up to the first Cancún post online and I truly apologize, my offline life is beginning to demand more of my time – but I’m here now so no more time wasting!
On the next two days of our vacation in Cancún, we decided to do tours of historical grounds and went deep into Mayan history. In hindsight, I probably wouldn’t have gone if I had a better understanding of the history because a lot of it is rather dark and rather stark to my beliefs as a Christian, so much so that I was praying all the while I was there and when we got back to our hotel – so I won’t burden y’all with that information. But you can see a few of the photos from the cuter experiences – enjoy!
We were the first on the luxurious bus as we got picked up at 6:30am – we were continuously jet lagged so we would always be awake from 3am 😅The Mayan calendar – which was created far before the Gregorian (modern) calendarSo the Mayans are big on this Obsidian stone, when out of water it’s black but when in water that’s mixed with salt it turns golden as pictured. If you put obsidian up to the sky you can look directly at the sun without glare!We drove across Mexico to Yucatán, a Mayan village and the time was one hour behind Cancun – it was strange driving back in time lolETP Ft the Chichen Itza, one of the 7 wonders of the world. We learnt many interesting facts about it, one of which was that if you clap in front of any side, the echo is the sound of a now extinct bird – the demonstration was pretty cool I must admit.We visited a different cenote literally everyday of our vacation and I loved it! Swimming with little fishes is so cuteCan you see how much fun I was having?The Peters Siblings!Watching the sunrise each day was phenomenally magicalWe did a lot of trekking on this tour; no wonder my workout partner Etiese said I still killed my calorie burn targets each day in our competition 😂Fun fact: Yeezys can float lol.
